Desert temperatures vary greatly between day and night. Daytime temperatures in Merzouga can reach 30-40°C (86-104°F) in summer and 15-25°C (59-77°F) in winter. Nights are significantly cooler, especially in winter when temperatures can drop to 0-5°C (32-41°F). The High Atlas Mountains are cooler with possible snow in winter. Layered clothing is essential - light clothing for daytime, warm layers for evenings. The best months for comfortable desert travel are March-May and September-November.
